Art Wolfe est un des plus célèbres photographes américains. Son approche unique est basée sur sa maîtrise de l’art et son amour de l’environnement. En 1996 il a reçu le prix « Photographer of the Year » par le Photo Media Magazine. En 1998 le North American Nature Photography  Association le récompense de la « Outstanding Nature Photographer of the Year ». En 2000 il est couronné par le « Alfred Eisenstaedt Magazine Photography Award ». La même année, Art Wolfe réalise son premier travail qu’il décide de publier à compte d’auteur : «The Living Wild ». Cet ouvrage, publié aux Etats-Unis, Angleterre, France et Allemagne, a été considéré parmi les 10 meilleurs livres de l’année par la Independent Book Publishers Association. En 2001, Art Wolfe réalise «Africa, California, and The High Himalaya ».

Currently in its fourth printing, the book is in North American, British, French, German, and Mexican editions. In 2001, Wolfe released “Africa, California, and The High Himalaya”.
